My name is Collette and I am a fully qualified therapeutic counsellor. I am an accredited member of the BACP with full liability insurance. I currently offer both face-to-face and online sessions.
People ask “What’s the difference between therapist, therapeutic Counsellor, counsellor, psychotherapist?” and the answer is there is no difference they’re all interchangeable!. Don’t get hung up on titles, we are all here to help.
Have you experienced a traumatic life event such a loss? Maybe you have something in your past you’ve not dealt with? Or there may be no reason you can think of that would explain your suffering. Modern life can certainly be overwhelming and we don’t always feel able to, nor should we ever have to, navigate it alone.
It is my belief that we can all benefit from understanding ourselves better; my aim is to help you do just that. Nobody has lived the exact life that you have. Your journey is unique to you and has shaped your every thought and belief about yourself and the others around you. Our brains store everything whether we remember it or not, and in turn influence our thoughts, feelings and fears. My hope is that by spending time getting to know you, I can help you make sense of what has happened or is happening to you; how you feel about it, and find a way to move forward, with solutions that best fit your life.
A therapist is part detective, part archeologist, scratching the surface, then with respect and curiosity digging a little deeper.
I have experience working with both adults and young people and offer face to face in Bedford and online counselling. I currently work in a school environment, for a charity and in private practice.
You’ll be safe with me, I promise.

Greenlights indicate go, proceed; they’re easy, they don’t interfere in our direction. They are approval, support, praise: they are health, success, joy, a fresh start. However, greenlights can also be disguised as yellow or red lights; a caution, a detour, a thoughtful pause, an interruption, a disagreement, sickness, pain, a death. They can slow us down or stop our flow. They can be hard.
Catching greenlights is a skill. We can catch more greenlights by simply identifying where the red lights are in our life and then changing course to hit fewer of them. We can also earn greenlights, create and schedule them in our future, through sheer force of will, hard work or by the choices we make. We can be responsible for greenlights.
